Course: Container Handling (For Officer)
Objectives: In order to run the Container Handling Operation smoothly in Chittagong Port, the main object of the course is to impart training on various aspects of container handling to the officials who are concerned with the job. 
For whom: CPA officials and the officials of Port Users Organizations. 
Course contents:
  • Container Type, Size and Kind.
  • Computerized Container Control System.
  • Containerization and its impact in international trade.
  • Container Handling Equipment.
  • Loading and unloading of containers to and from ship.
  • Container Yard (CY) and Container Freight Station (CFS), Stuffing & Un-stuffing.
  • Inland Container Depot (ICD).
  • Marine Insurance, P & I Club, Ship Survey & Carrier Liabilities.
  • Customs formalities, Documentation, Incoterms .
  • Container transportation to hinter land.
  • Disposal of undelivered and damaged containers.
  • Claims handling, Maritime Fraud, General Average.
  • Container leasing, Survey & Handover.
  • Feeder vessel and its activities.
  • Shipping Economics.
  • Documentary Credit, ICC, UCP & Banking functions.
  • Container Packing, Tally, Detention, Demurrage rules.
  • Freight forwarding and its related documentation formalities.
  • Container terminal charges.
Duration: 18 (Eighteen) working days.
Date: Starting from 22.09.2004 for 18 working days.
Starting from 08.05.2005 for 18 working days.
Number of course: 2 (Two)
Number of participants: 20 (Twenty) in each course 
Teaching Methodology:
  • Class Lecture and Discussion.
  • Group Discussion.
  • Seminar paper Presentation.
  • Field visit including container ship, ICD and Container Handling Equipment & Operation works.
Evaluation:
(a) Exam : 80
(b) Class Attendance and Overall Performance : 20
Total : 100
Facilities: Multimedia & OHP presentation system.
Course Fee: Tk. 1500/- (One Thousand Five Hundred) per participant.
