Safe Mooring
 
Course: Safe Mooring
Objectives: To enhance the knowledge & skills of participants involved with the mooring of CPA and ocean going vessels.
For whom: Lascars/Mooring boat personnel, Mooring Launch & Mooring stations personnel, Incharge Serangs & Station Serangs.
Course contents:
  • Mooring alongside a berth.
  • Different types of Buoy & their functions.
  • Mooring to a buoy.
  • Types of cordage.
  • Knot tying.
  • Splicing of cordage and wire.
  • Proper use of heave line.
  • Line handling.
  • Proper stowage of lines.
  • Different types of anchor and chains and their functions.
  • Use of shackles, clips, cleats, bollards , sinkers etc.
  • Proper Safety practices.
  • Personal Protective Equipment and their uses.
  • Storm Warning signals and Cyclone Disaster Preparedness. 
Duration: 12 (Twelve) working days.
Date: Starting from 26.10.2004 for 12 working days.
Starting from 04.05.2005 for 12 working days.
Number of course: 2 (Two)
Number of participants: 10 (Ten) in each course
Teaching Methodology:
  • Class Lecture and Discussion.
  • Practical demonstrations.
  • Individual & Group Exercise.
Evaluation:
(a) Exam : 80
(b) Class Attendance and Overall Performance : 20
Total : 100
Facilities: Multimedia & OHP presentation system.
Course Fee: Tk. 1000/- (One Thousand) per participant.
