Use of Life Saving and Fire Fighting Appliances
 
Course: Use of Life Saving and Fire Fighting Appliances
Objectives: To provide participants with an overview of maintenance and use of life saving appliances and fire fighting equipment. Also to provide participants with a knowledge and understanding of the techniques in marine fire fighting and fire prevention.
For whom: All hands working in the Marine Department and Hydrography Department, water craft & Deck, Mechanical and Electrical apprentices.
Course contents:
  • Ships Survey and Certification.
  • Requirement of life saving appliances on small craft.
  • Maintenance and operation and launching of life rafts/boats.
  • Equipment of life raft/boat.
  • Life buoy.
  • Life jacket.
  • Fixed fire fighting installation.
  • Fire prevention.
  • Fire detection.
  • Fire fighting equipment.
  • Operation of breathing apparatus.
  • Tug's fire fighting equipment.
Duration: 10 (Ten) working days.
Date: Starting from 16.02.2005 for 10 working days.
Number of course: 1 (One)
Number of participants: 10 (Ten) in each course
Teaching Methodology:
  • Class Lectures and Discussion
  • Practical Demonstration.
  • Individual & Group Exercise.
Evaluation:
(a) Exam : 80
(b) Class Attendance and Overall Performance : 20
Total : 100
Facilities: Multimedia & OHP presentation system.
Course Fee: Tk. 1000/- (One Thousand) per participant.
